The Ben Stiller Show
The Ben Stiller Show refers to two sketch comedy television shows that aired on MTV from 1990 to 1991, and subsequently on Fox from September 1992 to January 1993. Ben Stiller, Andy Dick, Janeane Garofalo, and Bob Odenkirk star in the Fox series. In addition, every episode featured character actor John F. O'Donohue. It had various videotaped comedic bits, many of which spoofed pop culture from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. Despite mainly excellent reviews, Fox canceled the series after only 12 episodes due to low viewership. The Ben Stiller Show, unlike most sketch comedy shows, did not employ a studio audience or a laugh track. This was Fox's only sketch comedy show that didn't use a laugh track. The Andy Dick Show, a semi-spinoff, followed a similar format. Following its discontinuation, the series received the 1993 Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Variety Series.
