Texhnolyze
Chiaki Konaka wrote the screenplay for Texhnolyze, a Japanese anime series that was directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki and produced by Yasuyuki Ueda. Yoshitoshi ABe created the original character designs for the show. Underground Lux is a lively, albeit decaying, metropolis. They call it "The City" and consider it as an intelligent being among the people of Lux. Organizations such as Organo, a business behemoth with connections to the criminal underworld in the prosthetics industry; the Union, an activist group that interferes with Organo's operations; and the Racan, an outlaw band of Texhnolyzed teens, are all fighting for control of the city. Onishi, the Organo's young but level-headed executive who has many enemies, and Ran, a little girl with a very important gift that impacts the entire city, are three of the show's main characters, however the cast as a whole plays a significant role, as does Ichise the stoic prize fighter. People in this story see historic occurrences that have a direct impact on whether or not their city will survive. A total of twenty episodes of Texhnolyze were broadcast on Fuji Television between April 16 and September 24 of the year it premiered. As a bonus feature on the DVD, there are two "hidden" episodes.
