Royal Opera House: The Sleeping Beauty
The Resting Beauty holds an unique location in The Royal Ballet's repertory. It was the ballet with which the Firm resumed the Royal Concert hall in 1946 after World War II, its initial manufacturing at its brand-new home in Covent Garden. Margot Fonteyn danced the function of the gorgeous Princess Aurora in the sneak preview, with Robert Helpmann as Royal Prince Florimund. Sixty years later, in 2006, the original 1946 staging was revitalized by then Director of The Royal Ballet Monica Mason as well as Christopher Newton, returning Oliver Messel's fantastic styles as well as glittering costumes to the stage.
